Cloud b Sweet Dreamz On the Go vs Tiny Love Suzi: The £18 Clip-On Restarts When Baby Stirs, the £40 One Projects a Sea Show
Two portable sleep soothers for naps away from the cot. The £18 Cloud b clips to a pram and restarts its sounds when your baby wakes; the £40 Tiny Love Suzi swivels a moving light show onto the ceiling. Here is which one earns its place in the changing bag.
COMPARISON · NURSERY & SLEEP
The cot at home is easy. It is the nap in the pram, the first night at the grandparents' house and the holiday cottage with the creaky floorboards that undo a routine. That is the job a travel sleep soother is built for: something small enough to clip on or throw in the changing bag that brings a bit of the bedroom with you.
Two very different takes on that idea sit at opposite ends of the price range. The Cloud b Sweet Dreamz On the Go is an £18 plush-faced clip-on that plays white noise and melodies and, crucially, listens. If your baby stirs and makes a noise, it starts playing again on its own. The Tiny Love Suzi Take-Along Projector Soother costs £40 and does something the Cloud b cannot: it swivels a moving light show onto the ceiling, wall or the side of the travel cot, with lullabies or white noise underneath.
So the comparison is not really cheap versus dear. It is sound that comes back on by itself versus light that keeps a baby watching. Those suit different babies, and different places to sleep. We went through the manufacturer specs, retailer listings and what parents tell us about portable soothers in real use, then weighed timers, batteries, mounting and how each one copes away from home.
Lil' Bubba's verdicts
- Best Overall: Cloud b Sweet Dreamz On the Go · 8.0/10 - a cry-activated restart and a 45-minute sound timer for under £20
- Best for Babies Who Settle by Watching: Tiny Love Suzi Take-Along Projector Soother · 7.5/10 - a 360-degree projector that turns any ceiling into the bedroom one

How we picked the 2
We started from the portable soothers that parents add to their Nests and then asked a simple question: which two would genuinely make different families happy? Both of these are made by long-standing sleep and nursery brands, both are designed to leave the house, and both are available through our partner retailers right now. We compared published specs line by line, read retailer listings and parent feedback, and set aside anything we could not verify. No brand paid for placement and neither product was sent to us.
What to look for in a travel sleep soother
Sound first, light second. Steady white noise is the part most parents rely on, because it masks the unfamiliar noises of a new room, a café or a car journey. Melodies are nice, but a baby who has learnt to drift off to a shushing sound will want that sound wherever they are.
What happens when the timer ends. Every battery soother switches off eventually to save power. The question is what happens when your baby wakes twenty minutes later. A sound sensor that restarts the track saves you creeping back in. Without one, you are reaching over the cot to press a button.
Light that calms rather than stimulates. A soft glow lets you check on a baby without switching on the big light. A moving projection can hold a wakeful baby's attention long enough to settle, but some babies find it more interesting than sleepy, so it is worth knowing which kind you have.
How it attaches. A clip that grips a pram hood, car seat handle or travel cot rail matters more than you would think. Anything that only sits on a shelf is far less useful in a hotel room.
Batteries. Both of these run on disposable batteries that are not included in the box. Pack spares, and note that neither is rechargeable.
Safety. Keep any soother outside the sleep space or securely fixed to the outside of the cot or pram, never loose next to your baby, and keep the volume low and the unit away from their head.
1. Cloud b Sweet Dreamz On the Go
Cloud b has been making plush sleep aids for years, and the Sweet Dreamz On the Go is its pocket-sized travel version. It comes as a little animal face (cat, owl, fox, panda and dog designs are listed) on a heart-shaped clip, measuring just 13 x 8.6 x 4cm. Inside are four white noises and four melodies, three modes, volume control and a glowing face that works as a nightlight.
The headline feature is the smart sound sensor. Once the sound has timed out, the unit listens, and if your baby wakes and makes a noise, it starts the sound again by itself. To save the batteries, the nightlight turns off after 15 minutes and the sounds after 45 minutes. For pram naps, car seat transfers and a strange cot at a friend's house, that combination of a long sound timer and a self-restart covers the moments when a soother is most likely to be needed again.
What parents love
- It starts again on its own. The sound sensor is the reason most people pick it. One parent told us: 'The sensor that turns the sound back on when she stirs is the best bit, I don't have to go back in.'
- Just enough light. The glowing face is soft rather than bright. A parent shared: 'The light is bright enough to check on him but not enough to wake him.'
- Clips anywhere. The heart-shaped clip suits a pram hood, car seat handle or cot rail, and the whole thing fits in a coat pocket.
- A 45-minute sound timer. That covers a typical daytime nap cycle, which is longer than many travel soothers run.
What to know before you buy
- Batteries not included. It needs three AAA batteries and is not rechargeable, so a stash of spares lives in the changing bag.
- The light goes off quickly. The nightlight stops after 15 minutes, so it is not a full-night glow.
- Stock is patchy by design. Some animal designs sell through faster than others, so you may not get your first choice of face.
Best for
- Pram and car seat naps on the go
- Babies who settle to white noise or shushing
- Parents who want something that restarts without a trip back into the room
- A low-cost spare for grandparents' houses
2. Tiny Love Suzi Take-Along Projector Soother
Tiny Love is best known for its play gyms and cot mobiles, and the Suzi brings the mobile idea down to something you can carry. It is a compact projector on a detachable smart clip. Clip it to the cot or travel cot rail and turn it 360 degrees to aim the moving sea-themed light show at the ceiling, a nearby wall or the side of the cot. Unclip it and it sits on a chest of drawers instead.
Underneath the light show you get four tunes or a white noise option, adjustable volume and up to 30 minutes of play. It is bigger than the Cloud b, at roughly 12 x 24 x 18cm, so it is more of a room-to-room and holiday soother than a pram clip. What it offers instead is the thing many babies respond to most at bedtime: something soft and slowly moving to watch.
What parents love
- Aim the show anywhere. The 360-degree swivel means the projection lands where your baby is actually looking, whether that is the ceiling or the side of a travel cot.
- Two ways to use it. We hear repeatedly from parents that the detachable clip is the useful part: on the cot rail at home, on a shelf at the holiday cottage.
- Familiar at bedtime. For a baby used to a light-up mobile, the projection brings the same wind-down cue into a new room.
- Music or white noise. You can pick lullabies for the wind-down or white noise to mask a noisy house.
What to know before you buy
- No cry sensor listed. We could not find a sound-activated restart in the specs, so when the 30 minutes are up, you restart it by hand.
- Too big for a pram. This is a cot, travel cot and shelf soother, not something you clip to a pushchair hood.
- More than twice the price. At £40 you are paying for the projector. If your baby is not a watcher, the Cloud b does the sound side for less than half.
Best for
- Babies who settle by watching lights or a mobile
- Holidays and travel cots where the ceiling is unfamiliar
- Families who want one soother for several rooms at home
- Wind-down routines that pair lullabies with a light show
What about Ewan the Dream Sheep or the Hatch Rest Go?
Both come up whenever parents talk about sleep aids. Ewan is a cuddly sheep with pink noise and a red glow, and the Hatch Rest Go is a small rechargeable sound machine. We cannot currently link to either through our partner retailers in stock, so we have left them out of the verdicts rather than send you to a dead end. If you are weighing them up, the same questions apply: does it restart on its own, how long does it run, and does it clip on or only sit on a surface?
How to choose
Choose the Cloud b Sweet Dreamz On the Go if most of your away-from-home sleep happens in the pram or car seat, if your baby settles to white noise, or if you want a soother that turns itself back on when they stir. At £18 it is also the easy one to buy twice and leave a spare at the grandparents'.
Choose the Tiny Love Suzi Take-Along Projector Soother if your baby is calmed by a light-up mobile at home and you want to recreate that cue in a travel cot or a new nursery. It is the better bedtime companion, but you will be the one restarting it when the timer runs out.
If your budget stretches, plenty of families end up with both: the Cloud b clipped to the pram for the day, the Suzi on the travel cot rail for the evening.
