Best Pram Raincovers UK 2026: Buy the Cover Made for Your Pushchair Unless You Switch Prams
Five pram raincovers compared, from a £15 universal to Bugaboo's £65 High Performance cover. Fit beats everything, so buy your pushchair's own cover unless you swap between prams.
COMPARISON · ON THE GO
A pram raincover is the least exciting thing you will buy for a new baby, and from October to April it is the one you will use most. It lives folded in the basket for weeks, then a squall comes in sideways on the school run and suddenly it matters whether it goes on in ten seconds or flaps about while your baby gets wet.
The non-obvious part of this comparison is that the cheapest cover is not the one with the worst materials. It is the one that has to guess the shape of your pushchair. Brand-made covers are cut for one frame: the seams sit where the hood ends, the zip lines up with the bumper bar and the vents sit above your baby's face rather than their feet. A universal cover trades that precision for flexibility, which is exactly right in some households and a daily annoyance in others.
We compared five covers from five brands, from a £15 universal to a £65 premium cover, looking at what each one fits, how you reach your baby through it, how it vents, how small it packs and what it is made from. We also pulled together what parents regularly tell us about living with each one through a British winter.
Short version: if you own one of the pushchairs a brand cover is made for, buy that cover. If you switch between a travel system, a grandparent's buggy and a hand-me-down, the universal earns its place.

How we picked the 5
We started with the covers BubsNest families add to their lists, then cut it to one per brand so you are not choosing between two near-identical options. Each had to be in stock with a UK retailer in our network and designed for a pushchair people actually buy.
We weighted fit first, because a cover that does not fit your frame is a cover that leaks. Then access to your baby, ventilation, packability, materials and price. Ratings reflect how well each cover does its job for the pushchairs it is made for, so a lower score for a brand cover does not mean it is a bad cover, only that its features are more basic.
What to look for in a pram raincover
Fit first. Check the exact model and year. Bugaboo's cover lists ten frames, Mountain Buggy's is for 2015-onwards Urban Jungle and Terrain only, and the Joolz cover is for the seat unit, not the carrycot. If your pushchair is not on the list, the cover will sag, pool water or ride up in wind.
Ventilation. Every cover here has vents, and that matters more than the waterproofing. A raincover traps warm air and moisture. Take it off when the rain stops, when you go indoors, on buses and in shops, and never leave it on a sleeping baby in warm weather. Check on your baby often, and if you see condensation building on the inside, open a window or the zip.
Access. You will reach in for dummies, snacks and blankets. A full-length zip or opening front window saves taking the whole cover off and letting the rain in.
Materials. Clear PVC is cheap and fully waterproof but stiffens in the cold. TPU panels with polyester sides, as on the Bugaboo and Maxi-Cosi, stay softer and avoid PVC altogether.
Pack size. If it does not fit in the basket with the shopping, it stays at home on the day you need it. Look for an attached pouch or bag.
Check the box first. Many travel systems and mid-range pushchairs include a raincover. Look before you buy a second one.
1. Bugaboo High Performance Rain Cover
Bugaboo's High Performance cover is the premium pick and it earns the price through fit and detail rather than marketing. It is made for the Fox family (Fox, Fox 2, Fox 3, Fox 5, Fox 5 Renew and Fox Cub), the Cameleon 3 and 3 Plus, the Lynx and the Kangaroo, and it fits over both the bassinet and the seat.
It is also the only cover in this group that thinks about the dark. A reflective strip helps drivers see the pushchair on winter afternoons, the 180° zip opens wide enough to lift a baby out without removing the cover, and the outer is polyester with a TPU window, so it is PVC-free. At 410g it is the heaviest here, but it folds into an integrated storage bag.
What parents love
- Cut for the frame. One parent told us: 'It fits the Fox like it was part of it. No flapping, no puddle on the hood.'
- Wide zip access. The 180° zip lets you get to your baby, or lift them out, without unhooking anything.
- Seen in the dark. The reflective strip is a small detail that matters on 4pm school runs in December.
- PVC-free. Polyester with a clear TPU panel stays flexible in the cold.
What to know before you buy
- £64.95. Over double the price of every other cover here.
- Bugaboo only. No use if you sell the pushchair and buy a different brand.
- Heaviest here. 410g is still light, but the bag takes up more basket space than the Joolz.
Best for
- Bugaboo Fox, Cameleon 3, Lynx or Kangaroo owners
- Parents walking in the dark in winter
- Anyone who wants one cover for both carrycot and seat
- Families planning to use the pushchair for a second child
2. Joolz Aer+/Aer2 Stroller Raincover
The Joolz Aer2 is one of the most popular compact strollers in the UK, and its raincover is designed to the same brief: small, tidy and easy. Joolz extended the coverage so it still protects at full recline, which is when cheaper covers tend to leave a gap at the foot.
It fastens with buttons at the back and folds into an attached pocket, so it never gets separated from its bag. Note that this is the cover for the seat unit. If you use the Aer2 cot or Nest, Joolz sells separate covers for those.
What parents love
- Covers full recline. A parent shared: 'It still reaches the footrest when she's lying flat for a nap, which my old universal never did.'
- Built-in pouch. It folds into an attached pocket, so it is always where you left it.
- Sensible price. £24.95 for a made-to-fit cover from a premium brand.
What to know before you buy
- Seat unit only. The Aer2 cot and Nest need their own covers.
- One frame. It fits the Aer+ and Aer2 and nothing else.
Best for
- Joolz Aer+ and Aer2 owners
- City parents who fold the stroller on and off public transport
- Travellers who need the cover in a carry-on
- Families who use full recline for naps out and about
3. Maxi-Cosi Comfort Raincover
Maxi-Cosi's Comfort raincover is the lightest cover here at 230g, and it is designed to fit Maxi-Cosi's Comfort range of pushchairs and carrycots. Check your model against Maxi-Cosi's compatibility list before you order, since its Compact pushchairs use a different cover.
The fabric is Maxi-Cosi's Eco Care, a recycled polyester mixed with TPU (80/20). There are ventilation holes, a large front window that opens when there is a pause in the rain, and elastic fixings with a zip extension that adapts to different recline positions. It folds into a small bag.
What parents love
- Featherweight. At 230g you will not notice it in the basket.
- Opening window. We hear repeatedly from parents that the window is the bit they use most: 'You can let air in between showers without taking it all off.'
- Recycled fabric. Eco Care polyester rather than PVC.
- Covers seat and carrycot. One cover for both modes on compatible pushchairs.
What to know before you buy
- Compatibility needs checking. Maxi-Cosi sells two covers (Comfort and Compact) for different pushchairs.
- Hand wash only. No machine washing after a muddy park trip.
Best for
- Owners of Maxi-Cosi Comfort-range pushchairs and carrycots
- Parents who want the lightest cover possible
- Families avoiding PVC
4. Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle & Terrain Storm Cover
Mountain Buggy makes pushchairs for gravel tracks, beaches and muddy footpaths, and the Urban Jungle and Terrain storm cover is built to match. It is custom-cut for the 2015-onwards versions of both buggies and protects against wind, rain and snow.
The best detail is the zip-open, roll-up front. You can unzip and roll the front panel up to let fresh air in or pass a snack through, then drop it back down when the next shower arrives. It is ventilated for airflow and folds small enough for the basket.
What parents love
- Roll-up front. One parent put it best: 'Unzip, roll it up, done. I don't fight with it on a windy hill.'
- Quick to fit. Owners regularly mention it goes on quickly and stays put on a moving buggy.
- Packs small. Folds down small enough to live in the basket.
What to know before you buy
- Very specific fit. Only for 2015-onwards Urban Jungle and Terrain models.
- Clear plastic stiffens in the cold. It is less supple than the TPU covers on a frosty morning.
Best for
- Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle and Terrain owners
- Countryside and coastal walkers
- Parents who want to vent without removing the cover
5. Cuddles Collection Universal Rain Cover
Cuddles Collection's universal cover is the pick if you do not have a single pushchair to buy for. It is designed to fit most standard 2-in-1 prams and travel systems in both carrycot and seat mode, which makes it useful for a grandparent's buggy, a second-hand pram or a spare to keep in the car.
It is clear PVC with elasticated edges and ventilation holes, wipes clean with a damp cloth and folds flat. What you give up is the tailored fit: on some frames it will sit neatly, on others it will be baggy around the hood.
What parents love
- £14.99. The cheapest way to keep a baby dry.
- Fits most 2-in-1s. A parent shared: 'It went on my pram and my mum's, which was the whole point.'
- Full visibility. Clear PVC all round, so your baby can see out.
- Wipe clean. A damp cloth sorts out mud and splashes.
What to know before you buy
- Fit is a guess. On some frames it is loose round the hood and can lift in strong wind.
- PVC. Stiffens in the cold and is less breathable than fabric-sided covers.
- No zip access. You lift the elastic edge to reach in.
Best for
- Grandparents and childminders with a spare pram
- Second-hand pushchairs with no brand cover available
- A backup cover kept in the car
- Tight budgets
What about a cover for my Silver Cross, UPPAbaby or Cybex?
Same rule applies. These brands make their own covers for their pushchairs and some of them are in our catalogue, but they only fit their own frames, so we have not pitted them against each other here. Many mid-range pushchairs also include a raincover in the box, so check before you buy. If yours did not come with one and the brand cover is out of stock, a universal will do the job while you wait.
How to choose
Bugaboo High Performance Rain Cover: Buy it if you own a Fox, Cameleon 3, Lynx or Kangaroo and walk in the dark. It is expensive, but it is the most complete cover here and it will see a second child through too.
Joolz Aer+/Aer2 Stroller Raincover: Buy it if you have an Aer+ or Aer2. It is cheap for a made-to-fit cover, covers full recline and never loses its pouch.
Maxi-Cosi Comfort Raincover: Buy it if your Maxi-Cosi pushchair is on the Comfort compatibility list and you want the lightest, PVC-free cover.
Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle & Terrain Storm Cover: Buy it if you push an Urban Jungle or Terrain over rough ground. The roll-up front is the most practical access design here.
Cuddles Collection Universal Rain Cover: Buy it if you have no brand cover option, need a spare for grandparents, or switch prams. At £15 it is the sensible backup.
